COVID-19 cases in Ethiopia surpass 26,000

According to a daily report released by Ethiopia’s Minister of Health Dr. Lia Tadesse, 1000 people have tested positive on 13 August 2020, making the total number of COVID-19 cases to 26,204. 

As of 13 August 2020, Ethiopia has conducted a total of 550,119 tests and confirmed 479 COVID-19 related deaths since the first case on 13 March 2020. A total of 11,428 people have also been recovered from COVID-19.

The Minister called on the public to strictly adhere all the precaution measures. "We need to be reminded that every single action we take determines the risk of contracting the virus," she said.
