United Nations organizes training for community radio journalists on COVID-19 reporting
Community radio journalists from different parts of Ethiopia received a training on COVID-19 reporting organized by the UN Ethiopia Communications Group.
The training is part of the UN’s efforts to build the capacity of community radio journalists in Ethiopia to disseminate COVID-19 related messages to millions of people. The UN support to community radio journalists includes development of a user-friendly guidelines that assist their daily activities.
As COVID-19 pandemic is accompanied by a spread of disinformation and misinformation, community radios can help counter this by sharing accurate information that enables people to make informed decisions in preventing themselves from the pandemic.
The trainees are also expected to address communities’ demands to access quality and reliable information on COVID-19 and organize community dialogues to promote desired behaviours.
