UNIDO, Ministry of Agriculture signed 10 mln Euro project to facilitate loan for stakeholders in coffee value chain

UNIDO Representative and Director of Regional Hub in Ethiopia Ms. Aurelia Calabro and Ethiopia’s Minister of Agriculture Mr. Oumer Hussien signed a 10 mln Euro project to facilitate loan for stakeholders involved in the coffee value chain.

Coffee sector is the backbone of the Ethiopian economy, being the principal product for export and foreign currency earner, with almost 20 million of Ethiopians directly or indirectly depending on coffee production and marketing.

With the support of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation, UNIDO will continue the support to the Ethiopian coffee sector in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture and Ethiopian Coffee and Tea Authority (ECTA).

UNIDO Ethiopia and Italy already contributed to the sector development through a partnership project for coffee value chain.
