UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator Dr. Ramiz Alakbarov discussed with State Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E. Ambassador Mesganu Arga.
UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for Ethiopia, Dr. Ramiz Alakbarov, discussed with State Minister for Political and Economic Diplomacy Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Ambassador Mesganu Arga, on a range of development and humanitarian issues of the country and the UN response.
Dr. Alakbarov discussed with the State Minister after presenting copies of his credentials to Director General of Protocol Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Melaku Bedada.
During the meeting State Minister, H.E. Ambassador Mesganu Arga, highlighted current affairs, the dividends of the home-grown economic reform agenda and reiterated Ethiopia’s commitment to further strengthen the multifaceted cooperation with the UN.
Speaking of the post-war peace consolidation efforts across the country, Amb. Mesganu highlighted the progress on the implementation of the transitional justice policy options and reiterated the Government’s continued commitment to further cement peace. The State Minister said that the Government is also putting wide-ranging efforts into rehabilitation and reconstruction in the areas affected by the Northern Ethiopia conflict.
The State Minister also mentioned that the 10-Year Strategic Plan of the country is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and called on the UN to support the efforts of the Ethiopian Government to realize the Plan.
Dr. Alakbarov, on his part, expressed his commitment to further enhance the longstanding partnership between the Ethiopian Government and the United Nations during his tenure as the Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in the country.
